MXULF                             .
on the way to a small digital system       .

From software version 0.22 (which is for a few weeks available for download and installed in new equipment), the MXULF decoder update device is not only usable for its basic tasks (decoder software update, sound loading), but it also has the possibility of autonomous driving mode, controlling a locomotive with its own control elements (scroll wheel and buttons) without a computer.

The functionality includes driving at this stage ("Stage 2")

-  Introduction of train operations by holding down the R key,
-
Display of vehicle address, manufacturer, software version of the decoder found via the track,
-  Controlling the speed control with the scroll wheel, and the direction of travel with the R key,
- Quick stop with the R button (while driving),
- Operate Functions F0 .. F8 (all 3 functions to buttons 1, 2, 3, then switch to F3-F5, or F6, F8).

NOTE: Therefore only one decoder can be on the track: the MXULF in this software development stage is "One loco Digital System", the operation of more trains is planned for future software development stages (3 .. 5), primarily through an external computer.

The software development for the MXULF naturally continues to implement the features which are currently outstanding, particularly expanding the functions to F0 .. F28, adding the "operational mode" for CV programming and CV readout (with the built RailCom detector), ..., and

As a special highlight - coming soon - with Stage 3 of the software

fast sound loading (<1 min) via the SUSI inputs of the decoder.

While the "normal" sound loading on the track (that is with a built-in decoder) lasts for about 10 minutes and can require more time (depending on the sound project, from ZIMO and other providers), with quick connect this can take 1 min or less. For this fast speed, however, the decoder must be connected directly (via the 4-pin "SUSI" interface) to the MXULF. The method will be particularly useful for a new decoder (before installation in a loco), with PluX, MTC, or Next interfaces, as the decoder only be plugged into a small adapter board, or for large decoders that have SUSI connectors.

For the software development Stage 4

finally, provide support for the USB client (= computer) interface

whereby the MXULF can be used by an external computer as a small digital command station (with max driving current 2 A), and, above all, can be used by standard external software (PFuSch, Railroad & Co, JMRI, etc.).

RailCom is a Trade Mark of Lenz Elektronik GmbH.
