Loco and adapter boards for large scale decoders

ZIMO offers a large variety of large scale decoders (3 families with 8 types) and loco boards (3 types) that provide many variants or combinations.
This way, many requirements can be met:

  • different dimensions, especially broad variants (MS990, MX699: 40 mm) and slim ones (MS950: 23mm)
  • different connection variations for the loco wiring, see below
  • different numbers of function outputs (8,11 or 15) - all "complete" (2A in groups)
  • complete servo connections (3-pole with 5V supply each)
  • up to 3 low voltage sources for loco equipment, especially 5V, and adjustable low voltage 1.5V and higher

*) the function outputs of ZIMO large scale decoders are equipped in groups of 4 each with overcurrent protection, which limits the total current of these 4 outputs to 2A each..

Except for these variations, all decoders and combinations are equipped alike and complete: from a synchronous rectifier for high performance without much heat productions to a 10 Watt audio amplifier (MS990 even 2x 10 Watt!, MS950 3 Watt).. The small difference in the permitted motor and total current (6A if based on MS990 or MX699, 4A if based on MS950) in reality does not have much impact.

Types of connections:

  • Soldering the wires to pads and plugging the decoder into the sockets of the loco board
  • Plugging cables with crimp connectors into pin headers of the loco board
  • Connecting single wires to screw terminals for LOKPL950K

LOKPL95BS
64 x 40 x 8 mm

Loco board for large-scale railways, MX695LS or MX695LV decoders (i.e. the types with pin headers) can be plugged in, with 40 solder pads for locomotive wiring (including 6 pads for positive pole)

Socket connectors on the loco board also suitable for plug-compatible third-party products (ESU: only the two pin headers at the ends are available, not those on the long side).

This loco board is a pure wiring board with no function of its own, on which the wires to the loco devices are soldered, decoders are interchangeable.

Example of a combination:
Loco board LOKPL95BV
Decoder MX695LV

The loco board is first wired (soldered), then the decoder is plugged on.

                     64 x 40 x 20 mm
  LOKPL95BV15
64 x 40 x 8 mm

Loco board with its own low voltage source for large scale railways, can be used with MX695LS or MX695LV decoders (i.e. the types with pin headers), with 46 soldering pads for locomotive wiring (6 pads each for plus and plus 1.5 V).

Socket connectors on the loco board are also suitable for plug-compatible third-party products (ESU).

This board itself generates a low voltage of 1.5 V for function outputs (in addition to any low voltages from the decoder, which can also be tapped).
